Purchase of Alaska

The issue of this cartoon is people leaving Alaska. These people are leaving because the property belongs to the polar bears. The cartoonist message is showing what people thought Alaska was. They thought of Alaska as nothing but polar bears. Other people might think that the bears are kicking the people out, Or that Alaska really is just bears. The cartoonist used symbolism by having the polar bears there. Also he used an analogy by showing that the polar bears are the people in Alaska. This cartoon is neutral on my feeling on American imperialism. This cartoon doesn't show America being rude by forcing the territory to become part of America.

Annexation of Hawaii

The issue of the political cartoon is Uncle Sam and the queen of Hawaii forcefully getting married. America is having them get married. The cartoonist message is what America will to get Hawaii. Also he is showing America and Hawaii get bounded together. Other people might think that America is causing this problem. Or that Hawaii is not happy about this. The cartoonist used symbolism by symbolising America and Hawaii. Also he used exaggeration by showing the queen of Hawaii not happy. This cartoon is against my feelings on American Imperialism. America is forcing Hawaii to get together.

The annexation of Hawaii

The issue of this political cartoon is Uncle Sam reading a file. While the queen of Hawaii is sitting on her throne in Hawaii. The cartoonist message is Uncle Sam reading what the file says which is meant for Hawaii. Uncle Sam is trying to get Hawaii as he did for the Philippines. Other people might think that the queen of Hawaii is waiting to hear a deal. Or that she is peacefully at home not knowing what Uncle Sam is doing. The cartoonist used labeling by labeling what the file is and the stuff around the pictures. He also used symbolism by showing America and Hawaii. This cartoon doesn't support my view on American Imperialism. This is because Uncle Sam is trying ton get Hawaii forcefully than asking for the land.

The Monroe Doctrine

The issue of this political cartoon is separating two sides by the Monroe Doctrine. The two policemen are trying to threaten the kid away. The cartoonist message is having the policemen trying to threaten the kid away. Also the kid is facing the fence that says Monroe Doctrine. Other's might think that the kid is trying to cause trouble. The kid is try to get the police to jump the fence. The cartoonist used labeling by showing the fence as the Monroe Doctrine. The cartoonist also used symbolism by having a flag in the background and having a policemen there. This cartoon is neutral on my feeling for American  Imperials. No one is taking land from each other but just keeping the kid away.

The issue of this cartoon is America having the key to China blocking the entrance. Also the other countries are trying to get a look in what China has. The cartoonist message is showing Uncle Sam bigger than all the other countries. Also he is showing all these countries that want to got to China. People might think that America is holding the power to China. Or that America is showing the other countries that America has the key to China. A technique the cartoonist used is symbolism because he showing the other countries outside of China. He also used exaggeration by making America bigger than all the other countries.

The Spanish-American War

The issue of this political cartoon is Uncle Sam protecting the Southern countries. He is hovering over them as if to protect them from Spain. The cartoonist message of this cartoon is having Uncle Sam being a big giant. Also he is having Uncle Sam reaching out to Cuba and countries around it protecting them from Spain. Others might think that Uncle Sam is trying to tear of spain. Or he could be trying to reach for Cuba's permission to have America help them. The cartoonist used exaggeration by making Uncle Sam bigger than the countries he is protecting. He also used symbolism by showing America protecting the other countries like Cuba. This cartoon is not against my opinion on American Imperialism. This is so because America is only trying to protect Spain

The Panama Canal

The issue  of the political cartoon is a man tapping against Colombia the egg making the Panama Republic 'the bird' to Teddy Roosevelt. Panama is giving America permission to build the canal. The cartoonist message is Panama leaving Colombia. Also it he is showing Panama giving Teddy Roosevelt the permission to build the canal. Other people might think that Panama is a bird ready to leave its egg. Or the businessman is  making Panama leave its egg. The cartoonist is using labeling by labeling what everything is. The cartoonist also used an analogy by representing Panama as a bird leaving Colombia the egg to be on its own. This cartoon is neutral on my feeling for imperialism. I feel this way because it only shows Panama giving permission to build the canal to America.

The Roosevelt Corollary

The issue of this political cartoon is Teddy Roosevelt walking around Southern countries with boats. Teddy is keeping guard of the countries with his big bat making sure no one comes in. The cartoonist's message on this cartoon is showing Teddy as police. Teddy is shown as a big police watching over southern countries. Other people would`think that Teddy is a big policeman protecting his territory. The cartoonist used labeling by naming the sea's, territories, and ships. He also used exaggeration by making Teddy a lot bigger that everything else. This cartoon is neutral on my feelings for American imperialism. This is because it is just showing Roosevelt protecting countries not taking over countries by force.
